Hey everyone,

When you apply for a 6 or 12-month tourist visa, do you have to go through all the same steps like getting a health check, police check, and financial checks, just like you would for a long-term visa like the 870 or something similar? It seems like a lot of extra work just to get an additional 3 months or so on top of the regular tourist visa, which doesn't require much.

Thanks!

It all depends on things like what country you're from, how old you are, and whatever else the Department looks at in their risk matrix.

That's interesting, I didn't know that. I had no idea that them asking for those things had anything to do with age. Is there somewhere I can find this risk matrix? I looked through all the documents about the Visa requirements and didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

If the risk matrix looks good for me, I might consider applying for the 6-12 month since it seems like it would be easier to get approved for!
