What’s the Process to Emigrate to Australia as a Skilled Tradesperson?

Stage One: Check your eligibility

Take our free visa assessment to check your eligibility to emigrate to Australia

Your assessment will be reviewed by one of our trades migration experts and they’ll be on hand to answer any questions you have about the process.

Stage Two: Skills Assessment

Every Profession, Trade and Occupation emigrating to Australia have to pass a skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority and for Skilled Trades this assessment process serves a dual purpose.

Not only does a positive skills assessment enable the next stage of the process to be completed, it also results in the award of an OTSR (Offshore Technical Skills Record) and this certificate is usually the first step towards licensing in your Trade in Australia.

Stage Three: Expression of Interest

After receiving an OTSR its time to build out your formal Expression of Interest.

Stage Four: Invitation to Apply

Your invitation to apply is the formal offer from the Australian Government’s Department of Home Affairs. At this point police checks and medicals will be required and, all things being equal, your visas will be granted.

The dedicated Skilled Trades team at Australia Made Simple look forward to being of assistance.
