The history of Katherine Airport

Katherine Airport is located in the town of Katherine in the Northern Territory. The airport was first built in the 1940s during World War II as an airbase for the Royal Australian Air Force. After the war, the airbase was used by the Department of Civil Aviation to provide air services to the Katherine region.
