The history of Launceston Airport

Launceston Airport opened in 1929 as a grass airstrip for the Australian Aero Club. The airport was taken over by the Royal Australian Air Force during World War II and was used as a training base. After the war, the airport was returned to civilian use and has since undergone several upgrades and expansions to accommodate the growing number of passengers.
