The history of Townsville Airport

The site of the current Townsville Airport was originally used as a military airfield during World War II. After the war, the airfield was converted to civilian use, with the first commercial flight arriving in 1947. Over the years, the airport has undergone several expansions and upgrades to accommodate the growing demand for air travel in the region. Today, it is the second-busiest airport in Queensland after Brisbane.
